Visit from Ronny and Chain Lakes

Posted on April 12, 2026 By Melissa

This past week, Mikes brother Ronny came for a visit, and Mike got to spend a lot of time outdoors in the beautiful weather!

Ronny took the picture so isn’t in this one 😉

When Ronny comes for a visit, he always tries to pick Mike up for a visit to Bert’s for an afternoon on the farm. Whenever I ask Mike about his week, going to Bert’s is always a highlight for him! Bert also picks Mike up and take him to the farm fairly often.

Anyways, this week, Mike’s cousin Reuben asked Mike and William to come visit his job site out at Chain Lakes. This was an easy “yes” as Mike will never say no to a chance to be outside and especially beside a lake while visiting with family!

But first, Mike asked William to come in at 9 so he could get some exercising and walking in before they headed out for the afternoon.

Ronny mentioned he was able to meet them in Nanton, and drive with them from there, and then Mike suggested they call Dad to join them as well, and by 11:30, they were on their way. They spent about 3 hours there, enjoying watching the machines work, as well as having lots of fun conversations about work and tractors.

Mike had his motorized wheelchair with, so enjoyed a little independence being able to drive himself around.

They had lunch on the edge of the boat ramp watching people pull in fish. I am pretty sure I have heard stories of Mike fishing here in years back, and now he definitely wants to go back to fish there again!

When they got back to the unit, Mike got out of the truck and said he wanted to do some walking outside before heading inside…full of energy that day!

Earlier in the week, Mike and William went to spend some time outdoors in the beautiful weather, and ended up on the paved path along the river. They stopped the wheelchair well before the bench and William helped Mike walk about 100 steps to the bench. (William says it seems a lot farther when walking backwards and trying to stay balanced!! Lol)

Once Mike was sitting on the bench, Mike asked William to go get the chair and drive it further down the path, so he could walk a little further…another energetic day…or at least he was determined to get some walking in!

It was a great week for Mike as he enjoys visits from Ronny and as always, spending as much time outside as possible!

Thanks again for following along on what’s happening in Mike’s life from week to week 🙂
