In Between Spring Snow Storms….

Posted on April 19, 2026April 19, 2026 By Melissa

This past week was pretty typical spring weather for Southern Alberta, starting out with beautiful temperatures on Monday.

Mike, William, Frans and John headed out to Lethbridge, and their first stop was at Humpty’s for a delicious lunch. After lunch, they took the short drive to Hendersen Lake for a nice walk along the water.

It was a just a great relaxing afternoon spent chatting, watching the birds and ducks and golfers. Sometimes these are the best outings that are close to home….water, sunshine, wildlife and friends.

Mid-week was a little colder with a typical April snowstorm that wreaks havoc on the roads, and slows things down again.

But Mike wasn’t bored as he had visits with Mom and Dad, Auntie Nita, worked on his communication with Andrelei, and also got out to the farm with Bert for an afternoon!

On Friday afternoon, Mike and William headed to Lethbridge to get Mike’s wheelchair looked at again. Mikes wheelchair goes to a lot of places, and is put in and out of vehicles a lot, so requires regular maintenance of tightening bolts, etc. but once in a while, it needs to be looked at by the professionals…

And, since the snow was gone again and it was another beautiful day, they decided to combine it with a walk through Indian Battle Park.

After parking the wheelchair and walking a ways, Mike took a rest on a fallen tree beside the path. While sitting there for a moment, someone walked by and said, “Hey, I thought I recognized you!”

It was Pete Neels, someone Mike has known for a long time, but hasn’t seen for while! It was nice for Mike to have a short visit with Pete, while William went and got the wheelchair from where they had left it.

Overall, a good week, and though there is more snow in the forecast for this week, there are also a few days forecasted to be in the low to mid twenties!! Any day spent outside is a good day 🙂

As always, thank you to everyone who is supporting Mike through visits, prayers, following along with these updates, and also to those who are supporting financially to be able to have William work with Mike. Mike’s family truly appreciates it more than you know!!
