Although we find ways to keep Mike out and about in the winter, summer definitely provides more opportunities to be outside!
This past week, Mike went on quite a few walks with Mom and Dad, Auntie Nita, and William. Walking along the Old Man River has a different view every day! He was also able to get out to Bert and Andreleis for a visit as well.
With all the rain we had last weekend, the Old Man Dam was opened again and water levels rose high overnight, higher than the weeks prior when we were concerned about flooding!
On Canada Day, Mike, Mom and Dad went to the Fort in the morning to see the Musical Ride and enjoy some of the festivities of the day. It was so crowded there that they were not able to get a spot where Mike could actually see the Musical Ride. So in the afternoon, they tried again and Rachel was there before them to save a spot where Mike was able to see and enjoy it.
Thursday was hiking day. Mike loves these days so much, and this time, there was a large group of volunteers that provided entertaining conversation along the hike. They were also instrumental in getting Mike and the Trail Rider over the fallen trees on the trail to Crandell Lake!
Even better, we saw 4 bears in total! One small, young bear delayed our hike for a few minutes as it was not scared of Steve’s yelling, or of all the people on the trail. It finally meandered off into the bush, but was still hanging around when we finished the hike!
On the way out of Waterton, in the meadow along the road, was a beautiful Mama bear and her cubs. We were happy to view them from the car, and I am glad we didn’t come across them while hiking!
