Mike's Journey

Touring the Queens Hotel

Posted on October 21, 2026 By Melissa

Last week, Mike and William headed out to visit his Denzil and his family. He got a tour around the farm, and walked into the house with Williams help, and then enjoyed a good, warm cup of coffee! It’s always great catching up with old friends, sharing a coffee, and taking the time to enjoy the simple things in life.

On Friday, Mike was able to go for a massage on his neck….

…and then headed back to Fort Macleod for a tour of the historic Queen’s Hotel with Theo Vanee!

For those of you reading who are not local, please check out https://thequeenshotel.ca/ to read about the history and current restoration that is happening there! (You can also find them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/queenshotelandrestaurant )

When I said to William that I assumed there was an elevator in there, he replied, “Yes. It was us…” 😄

I don’t know all the stories behind the following pictures, but it looks interesting and Mike thoroughly enjoyed the tour as he loves both history and construction!

A big thank-you to Theo for taking the time to show them around and share the journey. It’s always exciting to see the work that goes into preserving a piece of local history and giving an old building a future!

And as always, thank you for following along with Mike’s life and what’s going on! I am hoping to try a new device to help with Mikes communication in the next few weeks or so, and I will keep you updated on that as well 🙂
