A Quieter Week

This past week was a quieter week for Mike. No big adventures, but a nice time to rest up a little. With the nice weather, and very little w**d, it was a great week to get outside for walks. Mike went on a few walks with Mom and Dad, Auntie Nita, worked on the ipad with Andrelei, and spent an afternoon out with Bert. He also went to the bike park with Amy and her kids as well!

In the past few weeks when William, myself, mom and dad, and others have arrived at the unit either mid morning or mid afternoon, Mike was laying in bed sleeping. This is something a little different for Mike, as he does not usually ask to go lay down during the day. He will often doze while listening to his audio book, but not actually lay down and go to sleep.

But it is good that when he is really tired, that he will let staff know and get to recharge by taking a nap. He works hard when he is with William, so it’s good for him to rest as well.

Mike has also been borrowing a “standing frame” or walker occasionally, trying to figure out something that will work for him to continue practicing walking without injuring himself or others. It is a lot of work, takes a lot of concentration, and in my opinion, still a little awkward. A lot of that probably has to do with adjustments that would need to be made to fit him properly.

Anyways, that’s just a quick update on Mike’s week! As always, if you want to send Mike a message, just write it in a comment below, or email, and one of us will make sure Mike gets it!
