This past fall, Mike’s Uncle John and Auntie Audrey in Chilliwack bought Mike and William tickets to fly out from Alberta for a visit. Mike looked forward to this visit for weeks, and was excited to have a change of scenery for a long weekend!
As family, I think we were all curious how it would all work out, but William was game to try it, and figure it out as they went. Thankfully John and Audrey’s house is fairly wheelchair friendly and not too many stairs for Mike to navigate.
William had a lot of ideas of things to do while in Chilliwack, including hiking to Bridal Veil Falls. I had my doubts, because although I remember it being a fairly wide path, it is a very different story while pushing a wheelchair over a soft bed of pine needles and over slippery roots!

But they were troopers, and though some sections required one person pushing the chair and the other person pulling, they made it to the falls. Mike would be more than happy to spend all day, every day outside, and so this day was definitely a win for him!

The other days they spent visiting friends and family….

…and doing burnouts in Johns truck. At least I hope it is his truck….😄.

THANK YOU
Thank you to those who have donated so far to help keep William working with Mike as his self managed care funding ends. It is an answer to prayers, and Mike appreciates it more than you can possibly know!
Mike is staying in the Community Transition Beds in Fort Macleod at this time, until a suitable facility is found for him to live. He is doing well there, and appreciates everyone who visits!
If you would like to visit him there and want to make sure he isn’t out when you get there, or if you would like to arrange Mike and William to visit you, feel free to let someone in Mike’s family know or email contact@mikegrisnich.com and we will add you to his calendar!
