Adaptable Outdoors Activities

Posted on February 17, 2026February 17, 2026 By Melissa

One of the fantastic opportunities that we did not know about before last year, was the ability for those with physical limitations to spend time outdoors fishing and hiking and paddling with Adaptable Outdoors.

On their website, Adaptable Outdoors states “We believe that outdoor recreation and nature should be accessible to people of all abilities”

This organization has modified canoes, wheelchairs, and a group of volunteers who can take out people with disabilities to go hiking, fishing, or canoeing! This is such a fantastic thing for Mike as his favorite things to do before his diagnosis was to spend time in the mountains, fishing, hiking, or canoeing down the Oldman River.

Mike and William joined Adaptable Outdoors for a hike to Drywood Falls last year. There is a good part of the hike that is on quad trails and fairly to easy to traverse, but there are sections closer to the falls that are not simple while pushing/pulling an adaptive wheelchair.

Check out their Instagram post to see more about this adventrure!

We are hoping Mike and William can join Adaptable Outdoors on a few more adventures this summer!

If you would like to help Mike and William to keep working together, you can send an e-transfer to mikegrisnich@gmail.com. Any funds raised will be used to keep employing William as Mike’s aide, even while he is living in a facility!

Mike and Stephanie and their family are also thankful for everyone who keeps all of them in their prayers!! This is such a difficult journey for them, and we ask for your continued prayers.
